Ritual is built to be private and calm. No ads, no trackers following you around, and we never sell your data. Here's exactly what that means.
The short version: your habit and check-in data is stored in your own private account so it can sync across your devices. That's it. We don't run ads and we don't sell or share your data with third parties.
What we store
- Your account — a username and a PIN. The PIN is never stored directly; only a securely hashed, salted version is kept, so it can't be read back.
- Your check-ins and habits — the entries you create in the app (morning and evening check-ins, habits, streaks, rewards, optional metrics). This is what syncs between your devices.
- Reminder subscription — if you turn on daily reminders, your browser's push subscription and timezone are stored so the nudge can be sent at the right local time. Turning reminders off removes it.
What we don't do
- No advertising, anywhere.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your personal data.
- No third-party analytics or advertising trackers embedded in the app.
How it's kept
Data syncs to a private, per-account store behind your PIN. Accounts are protected with hashed PINs, lockout after repeated wrong attempts, and rate limiting. Connections are served over HTTPS with a strict content-security policy.
Your control
You can export a full backup of your data at any time from Settings, and you can delete your account — which removes your stored data — from Settings as well. Since Ritual works offline, your data also lives on your own device.
